Terms of Service

Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CopyTree website (the "Site") and the CopyTree open-source tool (the "Tool"). The Site and Tool are provided by Greg Priday as an open-source project. By using the Site or Tool, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.

The Tool is licensed under the MIT License (or as specified in the GitHub repository). These Terms supplement but do not replace the OSS license.

Use of the Site

You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes related to learning about and using the Tool. You agree not to:

  • Modify, copy, or distribute Site content without permission.
  • Use automated tools (e.g., bots, scrapers) to access or collect data from the Site.
  • Interfere with Site functionality or security.
  • Use the Site for illegal activities or to violate others' rights.

We reserve the right to restrict access for violations.

Use of the Tool

The Tool is provided under its open-source license. You may use, modify, and distribute it accordingly. However:

  • Comply with the license terms (e.g., include copyright notices).
  • Do not use the Tool for harmful purposes (e.g., malware, unauthorized data extraction).
  • Acknowledge that the Tool may integrate with third-party AI services (e.g., Gemini), subject to their terms.

Intellectual Property

The Site's content (text, images, logos) is owned by Greg Priday or licensed to us. You may not use it commercially without permission. The Tool's source code is open-source; see the repository for details.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Site and Tool are provided "AS IS" without warranties. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

We are not liable for any damages arising from use, including indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Your sole remedy is to stop using the Site/Tool.

The Tool processes local files; you are responsible for your data and compliance with laws (e.g., data privacy when using AI features).

Termination

We may terminate or suspend access to the Site at any time, without notice, for any reason.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. Changes will be posted here with the effective date. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
